Catalysing Crisis Preparedness and Response in the nation

In 2020, as Zimbabwe faced the global COVID-19 crisis, central coordination and data management was imperative in the fight against the disease.

To address this, we timeously operationalised the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC), which became the base of operations for Zimbabwe’s COVID-19 response, housing the national call centre.

Located at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, the largest public health care centre in the nation, the PHEOC facilitated 120 physical and virtual meetings for over 12,000 participants in strategic and operational meetings aligned to the National Response Plan to COVID-19 guided by World Health Organisation (WHO).

Building on our history of crisis response, we launched the National Cholera Elimination Roadmap – the nation’s ten-year plan of action towards ending Cholera, which will impact the 1,740,000 people living in cholera hotspots across Zimbabwe – at the PHEOC.

Access the roadmap here to learn more about how Zimbabwe aims to beat Cholera by 2028.
