Higherlife Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kennedy Mubaiwa as Chief Executive Officer effective January, 2018. Known for his passion for contributing to the future of Africa through education, Kennedy has the unanimous support of the Higherlife Foundation Board of Directors.

Dr. Kennedy Mubaiwa served as a Trustee for Higherlife Foundation from 2008 – 2015 before serving as Senior Strategy Advisor to the Executive Chair of Higherlife in 2015. In the same year he was appointed to Director of Education in the foundation. As the Director of Education, Kennedy played a key role in the formulation of the Higherlife Foundations strategy and spearheaded many ground breaking initiatives such the revolutionary Ruzivo Smart Learning platform which is helping students across Zimbabwe access quality education.

With Higherlife Foundation embarking on major changes and new projects this year (2018), its leadership is key and Kennedy’s incredible ability to inspire, motivate, and connect with employees, partners, customers and global leaders, makes him the CEO Higherlife Foundation needs to thrive in this new chapter.

“I see Higherlife Foundation nurturing students that lead with humility, focus and a relentless passion to achieve great results as well as staff members that are so innovative and charged up to use every available opportunity to do better than they did the previous day”- said Kennedy.

In this highly dynamic environment, characterised by an exponential pace of change, Kennedy’s unique ability to translate vision and strategy into world-class execution and bringing together teams & networks to drive results is key in the foundation’s success moving forward.

Kennedy is a fully fledged medical doctor from the University of Zimbabwe, an Anesthetist and he also holds an MBA from North West University, South Africa. Before joining Higherlife Foundation, Kennedy held several senior roles in the Pharmaceutical industry in Africa which include but not limited to:

  • Medical Director Eli Lilly Southern Africa (2001- 2004)
  • Executive Director Adcock Ingram Africa (2005 – 2010)

The highlight of Kennedy’s career was during his tenure at Adcock, where he spearheaded the development of generic Anti-retroviral medicines for the SADC region.

Kennedy is a man on a mission. “There is a future unfolding before us. A New Zimbabwe. A Zimbabwe, in a continent with many opportunities! Our understanding and contribution to education will have to become second to none,” he expressed.

Kennedy plans to disrupt the education sector in Zimbabwe and the region and make the continent realise its full potential through education.

“We will see Ruzivo going Pan-African, our mentorship will become more deliberate such that a Higherlife Foundation mentored individual will be destined for community building without a doubt. Technology as an enabler, will be the greatest game-changer not only in education, but in all adjacent industries. Higherlife Foundation is not going to react but is already pro-actively in the forefront.” – said Kennedy.
