Lifting Up the nation in prayer amidst the pandemic

As the number of COVID-19 cases increased rapidly in December and January, many Zimbabweans lost friends, family and communities members. Seventy per cent of the COVID-19 deaths in the country occurred in January, and there was a great sense of despair and fear in the nation.

Through our Faith and Development team and Global Intercessors, we initiated the #LiftUpZimbabwe 90 Days Prayer Campaign to contribute to national spirituality and restoration.

The campaign, which kicked off in January, brought Zimbabweans together to pray for our nation and find hope in God. Broadcasted live via Zoom and the Higherlife Facebook Page, the #LiftUpZimbabwe 90 Days Prayer Campaign reached over 750,000 people online and millions more over a local radio station, Radio Zimbabwe.

Through the 90 days, renowned spiritual leaders from across various denominations, market place leaders across key economic sectors joined together with leaders from Delta Philanthropies, Higherlife and the Econet Group to pray and spread hope daily at 6:30 am and 8:30 pm CAT. The campaign also brought together many Zimbabweans as they too added their voices through messages of hope to uplift one another through 30-sec videos shared on various digital platforms.

As the 90 Days of Prayer came to an end on 24 April through a grand finale session, Delta Philanthropies Co-Founder, Mrs Tsitsi Masiyiwa called on Zimbabweans to remain vigilant, praying without ceasing and putting their faith into action through three actions, Reading the Word, Evangelising, and Giving to bring about transformation to Zimbabwe.
