  • Using Information To Empower Future Generations – Part 2 (Tariro’s Story)

Today we fast forward into Tariro’s future. She still stays with Babamukuru Sedekene, and his three daughters. She is now thirteen years old and is in her second term of form one at Domboramwari high school. Tari has been on the Capernaum Scholarship for six years now and has received some of the services Higherlife Foundation offers to the scholarship’s students. Benefits such as psycho-social support and mentoring have helped her recover from the unresolved grief of losing both of her parents.

Tari has also had her school uniforms and stationery paid for seasonally, has had health assistance from the foundation when her Babamukuru could not afford it and Welfare and nutritional packs delivered to her on occasions. All things being equal, Tari is a healthy and joyful young girl with developing ambitions to take on the business world after her schooling.

Unfortunately, this term, Tari has been struggling with mathematics. Her teacher has reported that there are gaps in the foundation of her learning from primary school which are hindering her progress in the subject. Fortunately, Higherlife Foundation has a learning hub situated in Domboramwari high school and Tari, being on the Capernaum Scholarship, has free access to this online learning platform.

With Ruzivo Smart Learning, Tari is able to go back to grade 5, 6 and 7 mathematics curriculums and revise the content with follow up tests and exercises. As the term goes by, Tari’s math ability picks up.

Higherlife Foundation has Ruzivo Brand Ambassadors that give support to schools contact teachers in schools that are now using the Ruzivo Smart Learning. The contact teacher at Domboramwari is monitors Tari’s progress on Ruzivo Smart Learning and sends feedback home to her Babamukuru and to the foundation.

As the final exams approach, Tari and her classmates spend after-school afternoons logged into Ruzivo, reading and doing exercises. Tari also uses her Babamukuru’s phone, which has internet access, to continue using Ruzivo at home and on weekends.

(To be continued)

Currently, Ruzivo offers content for grade 1 to 7, as well as form 1 to form 4. Ruzivo can be accessed from any device and place with internet access and is free for all.
