“Promoting entrepreneurship to drive economic growth and strengthen livelihoods.”

Rural Transformation and Sustainable Livelihoods

Through the Rural Transformation and Sustainable Livelihoods Pillar, our current key focus is driving sustainable livelihoods through training communities and driving the adoption of Climate Smart Agricultural technologies and innovations. Our work leverages the power of agriculture, business, and innovation to build transformed, modernised and economically vibrant rural communities.

Job Creation and Sustainable livelihoods

At Higherlife Foundation, we believe entrepreneurship plays a significant role in driving economic growth and strengthening livelihoods.

We support entrepreneurs from all walks of life in starting up and strengthening their ventures – in line with our quest to build thriving communities, one person at a time.

Supporting sustainable livelihoods

Across our portfolio, we look for opportunities to support the communities we serve though projects that enhance their food security and strengthen their livelihoods. This support takes the form of loans, capacity building, and direct project implementation and monitoring.

2019 projects underway include:

  • Provision of concessionary loans to marginalized communities, including people living with disabilities and albinism, elderly people, churches and mission hospitals.
  • Establishment of feeding programs.
  • Setup of viable nutrition gardens in Matabeleland North, addressing ongoing food security in the region.

Reimagine Rural

Launched in early 2019 by the Masiyiwa family, the Reimagine Rural fund aims to foster economic activity at the rural level with a special focus on women and youth. Higherlife Foundation is proud to be a partner on this exciting initiative that is promoting shared prosperity in rural Zimbabwe while meeting the needs of vulnerable populations and reducing inequalities to improve livelihoods.
