Keep your head up high

Life is a storm, you will bask in the sunlight one moment and be shattered on the rocks the next day. What is important is what you do when that storm calms…

As I think about the last year, I cannot help but see God’s grace upon Higherlife Foundation. As an organisation, we weathered significant storms but we came out of them stronger. In fact, out of these storms, we embraced the unique opportunity we have to be more intentional in our work, in order to have a greater impact on our beneficiaries, our communities, and ultimately our nations.

The year 2018 marked a turning point for the Foundation. We embarked on a journey with a uniting mission: to invest in human capital to build thriving individuals, communities, and sustainable livelihoods. A new strategic shift was approved and this too will bring its own opportunities and challenges. This will require each and every one of us to work together even more. To thrive in this next phase of our journey, our leadership strongly articulated the need for Strong execution, Continuous development through reading and online learning, Accountability, Innovation, and most importantly Faith in God and prayer.

This will not be easy as our nation is facing its own storms which manifest as storms in our own lives. Each one of us is facing or will face their own storm, their own battles and unfortunately, we all have to go through life having to live through them, others less and some a little more. However, despite all that is happening be it in our country and our lives, we are encouraged to gird ourselves with courage, strength and tenacity, with great perseverance and to stand strong through the furnace of these trying times.

Engage in your therapeutic activity, be it reading, listening to soothing music, going for a walk or run; grow your God-given talents to greater heights and do not neglect them. Love and support one another in work, home, church and communities, recognizing we are in this together. Most importantly submerge yourselves in the presence of God in your quiet times, devotions and prayer walks encouraged by the relief that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

So let us go out and live our lives, dancing through the storms, embracing what lies ahead with unwavering faith in God.
